As an anchored steel barrier, Defender can offer far better containment and lower deflection compared to concrete barriers. This makes Defender barrier a superior & safer solution, improving safety and maximizing available workzone space.

Defender provides workzone safety as well as vehicular safety by capturing and redirecting an errant vehicle. It is a semi-rigid system designed to flex to absorb the energy of an impact. This flex is what is called the dynamic deflection. Defender is highly versatile and can be used for both high-speed as well as low-speed applications.

Additionally, Defender barriers have been deliberately designed with a shorter length (3.9m vs standard 12m for other steel barriers). The benefit is a barrier that is far better at handling strong road curvature and radii – perfect for NZ’s challenging roads. The shorter barrier length also makes installation safer, especially in scenarios where space is restricted.

Critically, deployment costs are kept low due the high number of barriers that can be transported, especially when compared to more conventional concrete barriers. Likewise, due to its lightweight and easy handling, Defender offers leading installation speeds, further reducing customer project costs.

Defender barrier can be deployed as a Low Deflection system providing superior deflection performance with anchors every 2nd barrier or a High Containment system with anchors every 12th barrier. The barriers are compatible with Absorb-M, TAU-M, Quadguard M10 CZ, Hercules and MASH SLED.
